Propolis

Propolis, a resin-like substance produced by bees, is a treasured ingredient in Korean skincare for its soothing, healing, and nourishing properties. Rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, propolis is known for its ability to protect and repair the skin, making it ideal for irritated, acne-prone, or sensitive skin types.

Benefits of Propolis: Packed with antioxidants that help protect the skin from environmental damage and free radicals. It has powerful antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, making it highly effective for treating acne, calming irritation, and reducing redness. Propolis also promotes skin regeneration, helping to heal blemishes and repair damaged skin. Additionally, it helps to maintain the skin’s moisture balance, leaving the skin hydrated, soft, and more resilient over time.

Ingredients That Work Well with Propolis: Pairs wonderfully with hydrating ingredients like hyaluronic acid, glycerin, and honey, which help enhance its moisturizing and soothing effects. It also works well with calming ingredients like Centella Asiatica (Cica) and aloe vera, creating a routine that’s perfect for soothing sensitive or acne-prone skin. Propolis can be combined with niacinamide to further reduce inflammation and improve the overall texture and tone of the skin.

Ingredients to Avoid Mixing with Propolis: Is gentle and works well with most ingredients, but to avoid irritation, it’s best not to mix it with strong exfoliants like AHAs, BHAs, or retinoids in the same routine. These active ingredients can potentially overwhelm sensitive skin and counteract propolis’ soothing and healing benefits. For optimal results, alternate these stronger actives with propolis-based products to keep the skin calm and balanced.
